About us

Richard Miles embarked upon his career in antiques in 1975 when he joined Christies Auction House in London. He later went on to work as a specialist in Arms and Armour for Sotheby's before branching out and opening a gallery in the Pimlico area of London in 1982 selling Engish and Colonial (Indian, Ceylonese, Chinese, Indonesian) furniture and works of art.

For the last 10 years, Richard Miles has been carefully acquiring prized colonial and country house antiques which he exhibits annually at the Winter, Spring and Summer Olympia Fine Art and Antiques Fairs. See the schedule below for the location and dates. At other times, please contact for an appointment to view the collection.

His interest in the subject of colonial furniture and related antiques was partially motivated by ancestral connections to the East Indies. Several generations of his family were actively involved in the East India Company, which exported a wide range of goods crafted in Asia to Britain and Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries.
